Hostess launches Molten Lava Ding Dongs

Hostess Brands has launched Molten Lava Ding Dongs: chocolate-coated snack cakes filled with a rich chocolate crème, and ready-to-eat after warming up for 20 seconds in the microwave.

The launch of Molten Lava Ding Dongs follows last summer’s release of Hostess Deep-Fried Twinkies, a first-time entry into the freezer aisle for the snack cake company, in addition to a line of ice cream flavors inspired by the brand’s classic treats.

A spin on a classic restaurant indulgence, Hostess Molten Lava Ding Dongs are easily prepared, requiring only 20 seconds in the microwave followed by a brief cooling period. Consumers are then treated to a delicious mouthful of decadent, warm, chocolate crème filling wrapped in the chocolate cake of Ding Dongs they have loved for generations.

“The introduction of Molten Lava Ding Dongs, which comes on the heels of last year’s launch of Deep-Fried Twinkies, demonstrates Hostess’ commitment to expanding its presence in the frozen food category,” said Burke Raine, Hostess Brands’ Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “With this new product, Hostess continues to push the envelope of innovation, bringing consumers restaurant-ready versions of their favorite snack cakes which can be enjoyed at home in seconds.”

Molten Lava Ding Dongs feature a 30 percent larger cake with 60 percent more crème filling and 20 percent more chocolate coating, compared to original Ding Dongs. The microwave-ready cake comes in boxes of ten individually wrapped cakes and is available now in the freezer aisle of retailers nationwide.
